Steamboat Springs The two-man team of Billy Demong and Bryan Fletcher combined Saturday to finish sixth in a team event at World Cup in Val di Fiemme, Italy.
The team was fifth after the jump but fell to sixth after the two-by-7.5 kilometer cross-country race.
The team was 19 seconds behind eventual winners Magnus Moan and Mikko Kokslien, of Norway.
The other U.S. team of Steamboat’s Johnny Spillane and Taylor Fletcher finished in 10th, 50 seconds behind the winners.
“Still, two in the top 10 is good,” coach Dave Jarrett said in a news release. “We know we are putting ourselves in position to podium almost every weekend but haven't had things line up quite right yet. It is coming.”
World Cup action continues Sunday in Val di Fiemme, site of the 2013 World Championships, with an individual Gundersen race.
