— A storm that could leave up to a foot of snow in Denver today and Friday is unlikely to produce accumulating snow in Steamboat Springs.

The National Weather Service forecasts a 50 percent chance of snow in Steamboat today, dropping to 30 percent tonight and Friday. However, daytime accumulations are expected to be trace, if any. Today’s high temperature will be 35 degrees, with an overnight low of 13 degrees.

The weekend forecast calls for sunny skies and high temperatures in the low to mid-30s. Overnight lows will be in the single digits.

The storm system moving across southern and central Colorado today could produce significant snowfall for Front Range communities. Denver and many other urban communities from Highlands Ranch north to Longmont are under a winter storm warning. Total snowfall accumulations could be 10 to 18 inches by late Friday night.
