The 99th Winter Carnival Soda Pop Slalom is at 10 a.m. Feb. 10 on Stampede ski run at Steamboat Ski Area. The race is open to skiers and snowboarders ages 11 and younger. Register from 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays through Wednesday at the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club office at Howelsen Hill. Sign up for Winter Carnival horse events starting Friday
Registration for the Winter Carnival horse events will be online this year and available beginning at 10 a.m. Friday. Registration is at www.steamboatchamber.com. Registration for non-horse events like the shovel race will be taken the day of the event at the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association’s registration tent in downtown Steamboat. Women’s cross-country ski class is Fridays in February
A four-week women’s cross-country ski fitness class is being offered Fridays in February at the Lake Catamount Touring Center. The 1.5-hour clinics will focus on technique improvement and fitness. Skiers can do either the skate or classic styles, and all levels of skiers are welcome.
Classes are from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $40 per session or $125 for all four classes. Call 970-871-6667 to register.
Clothing drive is Saturday at Steamboat high school
The Steamboat Springs High School drama club is holding a clothing drive from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the high school. The club will accept old clothes and Halloween costumes. The donations will be used for a student-run, one-act production March 3 that includes acting and directing by students and is produced by drama teacher Ms. O’Reily. The Steamboat Symphony Orchestra’s Soiree & Swing fundraiser is at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort.
