Steamboat photographer Jim Steinberg was awarded Honorable Mention in the Nature Landscapes category of the 2012 International Photography Awards for this photograph, titled "A Different South Africa."

Steamboat Springs photographer Jim Steinberg was awarded Honorable Mention in the Nature Landscapes category of the 2012 International Photography Awards for the photograph “A Different South Africa.”

Steinberg will share more of his photos during a lecture series titled A Journey Through Africa. Photos from Kenya will be on display from noon to 1 and 6 to 7 p.m. Jan. 16, photos from Rwanda can be viewed from noon to 1 and 6 to 7 p.m. Feb. 13, and images from Congo will be shared from noon to 1 and 6 to 7 p.m. March 13.

County reminds snowplow drivers of safe, legal ways

The Routt County Road and Bridge Department would like to remind snowplow drivers to plow snow to the sides of a street and that plowing snow across a street is unsafe and, in some cases, illegal. For more information, call the Road and Bridge Department at 970-879-0831.

Registration now open for city’s teen archery session

Registration is open for the WZ Teen Club archery session offered through the city of Steamboat Springs Parks, Open Space and Recreational Services Department. The program is for teens in sixth through eighth grades and is held from 3:10 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays from Jan. 9 to March 6. There is no class during Blues Break. Participants will learn competition shooting using compound bows. The registration fee is $100 and includes transportation, equipment, instruction and a snack.
