Steamboat Springs Nordic team opens season in Minturn

2012-13 Sailors Nordic schedule
- Dec. 15: Steamboat girls 4th, boys 5th at Minturn
- Jan. 12: Meg O'Connell leads Sailors at Howelsen Hill
- Jan. 26: 10 a.m. at Summit
- Feb. 2: 10 a.m. at Leadville
- Feb. 9: 11 a.m. at Aspen
- Feb 14 and 15: state championships
Steamboat Springs — The Steamboat Springs High School Nordic team opened up the season Saturday, notching strong finishes in Minturn.
The Steamboat girls finished fourth. Vail Mountain won
Gabriel Bohlmann was the top girls finisher in 13th. Lesley Myller was 19th, Eliza Leeson was 25th and Meg O’Connell was 27th. All three met state qualifying criteria.
The boys team finished sixth, while the Summit boys won the meet. Peter White was the top Steamboat boys finisher, coming in 27th. Dane Dixson was 34th, Tait Dixson was 35th and Tristan Arnis was 36th. All four met the state qualifying criteria.
The team is off for the holidays. It next competes Jan. 12, when it hosts a meet at Howelsen Hill.
