Steamboat Springs Chix With Stix go 1-2 over week

— The Steamboat Springs Chix With Stix women’s hockey team went 1-2 over the past week, dropping a pair of games to Aspen while beating Breckenridge.

After winning its first two games of the season, Steamboat (3-2) lost to Aspen 3-0 and 9-0.

Between the two games, the Chix could muster only 20 shots on goal.

But the women bounced back against Breckenridge with a 5-1 win.

Steamboat’s Shannon Forbes got the scoring started midway through the first period.

Renee Dupre added a pair of goals and Carrie Campanelli added two more as well, including a short-handed goal.

Nikki Knoebel was near perfect in net. Dupre also assisted on three of the goals. Diane Dwire had two assists, and Lisa Owen had one.

The Chix are off for the holidays before returning to play at 9:15 p.m. Jan. 4 at home against Breckenridge.
