South Routt ag instructor Whaley seeking feedback
South Routt agriculture instructor Jay Whaley, in partnership with Colorado Northwest Community College, Colorado Community College and Occupational Education Systems, is seeking community feedback about a proposal to offer a curriculum in the areas of animal science, agriculture economics, welding, small gas engines, agriculture leadership, farm carpentry and other agriculture-related fields, according to a news release.
The curriculum would be developed based on community needs and made available from CNCC for concurrent enrollment for Soroco students, and eventually other Northwest Colorado agriculture education programs.

Steamboat Springs resident looking for ukulele players
Steamboat Springs resident Dan Tyler is looking for ukulele players interested in joining a group that would practice and perform together. Denver’s Rocky Mountain Ukulele Orchestra Conductor Gary Jugert has indicated he would travel to Steamboat to help organize the group. Players of all levels and ages are welcome to join. Volunteers for bird count meeting Saturday in town
Christmas bird count volunteers are asked to meet at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. Volunteers then will travel to nearby count zones to look for birds. Each zone will have an experienced birder as leader.
Volunteers also can participate in the count by watching a feeder today. For guidelines for reporting birds seen at your feeder, email email@example.com. There also will be a group on skis counting birds at Steamboat Ski Area. To join the skiing group, call Yampatika at 970-871-9151.
Data collected during bird counts across North and South America and the Pacific Islands is used to monitor the winter distribution of birds, aiding in the study of the effects of drought, climate change and loss of habitat, according to a news release.
10th Steamboat Nordic Camp is this weekend
Spots still remain for the 10th annual Steamboat Nordic Camp being held Saturday and Sunday at the Steamboat Ski Touring Center. The all-day camp features one- and two-day options. The Nordic Camp is for all levels of skiers, including beginners and racers. The cost is $115 for the one-day camp or $175 for the two-day camp. The camp includes two clinics per day, professional coaching, trail passes, lunch, wax clinics, demo equipment to try and a happy hour with prize drawings. Registration deadline for city league sports extended

Free bus tours are being offered for seniors Dec. 19
The city of Steamboat Springs is offering free bus ride tours for seniors to look at Christmas decorations Dec. 19. The bus will pick up riders at 6 p.m. at the Selbe Apartments, 6:15 p.m. at the Mountain View Apartments and 6:25 p.m. at the Steamboat Springs Community Center.
