Update: Steamboat Ski Area posted on Facebook that the Burgess Creek lift would open at about 11 a.m.

After Steamboat Ski Area got 8 inches of snow on Mount Werner on Saturday, residents and visitors alike got out to enjoy the mountain and the fresh powder.

According to a news release, the ski area could open the Burgess Creek lift, Rudi’s Run, Lightning and Ego as early as Monday.

On Monday morning, the ski area is reporting an 18 inch mid-mountain base with eight trails and three lifts open. Total snow to date is 44.5 inches.

You can find current lift and trail status updates at www.steamboat.com.

Keep an eye on the weather with webcams across town and at the mountain.

If you're a winter sport obsessive, there are a couple sites you can use to track weather or good times. FreshyMap uses area circles to show what spots across the U.S. are getting snow. Shredded Steeze — yes, that's the name — let's you upload and geotag videos in different sport categories and watch clips tagged to other resorts or areas.
