Steamboat Springs skier Anna Marno making waves on NorAm circuit
Wednesday, December 5, 2012
Steamboat Springs Steamboat Springs Alpine skier Anna Marno is making some noise in the first NorAm stop of the year.
Marno opened the season Saturday in Copper Mountain with a first-place finish in the opening ladies super G competition. Her winning time of 1 minute, 32.87 seconds almost was a full second ahead of second-place finisher Katie Ryan.
In the Sunday super G event, Marno was second.
She also was 11th on Monday, second Tuesday and fourth Wednesday in downhill competitions. She sits atop the women’s NorAm standings. There are two more downhill events scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
Marno, who used to ski for the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, has qualified for the World Junior Championships the past two years.
After tearing up her left knee in February 2011, Marno looks to be fully healed.
Marno, 20, opened the season on the U.S. Alpine Development Team.
