Steamboat Springs The Hayden High School girls basketball team led for most of the game Tuesday before North Park used a dominant fourth quarter to pull away with a 40-37 win.
Hayden led through three quarters, but North Park scored 20 points in the deciding fourth quarter.
“The fourth quarter killed us,” Hayden coach Michelle Wilkie said.
Hayden, however, finally saw some balance. Kara Cozzens had 12 points, Savannah Williams had 11, and Olivia Zehner had 10.
“They did a great job,” Wilkie said. “I say this every week, but for these kids, it’s about making sure we improve every game.”
Hayden (0-4) has the rest of the week off before returning to play Encampment, Wyo., on Dec. 14 at home.
“At this point right now, records are fabulous,” Wilkie said. “Right now, I can’t look at my record and be disappointed. They have improved every week.”
