Steamboat Springs Stage Race road bike event seeks volunteers
Monday, August 27, 2012
Steamboat Springs The Steamboat Springs Stage Race is coming back Labor Day weekend, but in a slightly revised format. The road bike race has been cut from four to three days this year in an attempt to bump attendance numbers from 2011.
“2011 was a tough year with only about 260 competitors and a financial loss, but the energy from supporters and racers has kept me motivated to give it another go in 2012 with a few tweaks,” race promoter Corey Piscopo said in a news release.
Volunteers are needed for the event that runs Saturday to Monday. Those who want to sign up can visit www.bikesteamboat.com. Pro and amateur bikers are encouraged to register for the event with multiple courses and plenty of fields for all levels and age groups.
The prizes for participants include a $10,000 purse, a Moots bicycle frame giveaway and prizes from other sponsors.
