— The Routt County Sheriff's Office and investigators from the National Transporation Safety Board on Sunday continued their investigation of a plane crash discovered in Routt County on Saturday and the death of the plane's only occupant.

Routt County Undersheriff Ray Birch said NTSB investigators examined the crash site Sunday and still were working to determine when the plane crashed.

The single-engine Piper was discovered at about noon Saturday by a sheep herder about three miles north of the Camilletti Ranch house, which is at the end of Routt County Road 48 near Milner.

Birch added Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg still was notifying the pilot's family Sunday afternoon. The man's identity is being withheld pending the notification of family members.

Birch said Saturday that the man is not from the area.

A call to an NTSB contact provided by Birch was not returned Sunday.
