The city of Steamboat Springs will begin paving projects May 9, weather permitting. The following streets or sections will be overlaid:
■ Third Street between Lincoln Avenue and Oak Street
■ Fourth Street between Lincoln and the south side alley
■ Seventh Street between Lincoln and Oak
■ Eighth Street between Lincoln and Yampa Street
■ Ninth Street between Lincoln and Yampa
■ 11th Street between Lincoln and Yampa
■ 12th Street between Lincoln and Yampa
■ 13th Street between Ferrell Gas and the James Brown Soul Center of the Universe Bridge
■ Alley between Lincoln and Yampa, Fourth and Fifth streets
■ Alpenglow Way
■ Buckskin Drive
■ Butcherknife alley between Larimer and Hill streets
■ Chinook Lane
■ Critter Court
■ Hiawatha Court
■ Merritt Street
■ Park Avenue between Broad Street and Laurel Street
■ Resort Drive
■ Upper Burgess Creek Road

Hayden Public Library to close Friday for cleaning
Hayden Public Library will be closed Friday for cleaning. The library will reopen from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Call the library at 970-276-3777 with questions.
Volunteers sought for tree planting event June 9
Yampa Valley Sustainability Council is planting 2,000 trees June 9 as part of ReTree Steamboat. Ten site leaders are needed to serve as volunteers for the event. Three Quarter Circles will open for season April 28
Three Quarter Circles sporting clays and driving range will open for the season April 28. The clays range is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekends as well as weekdays by appointment. The driving range is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Call 970-879-5649 for more information.
Motor vehicle donations help Habitat for Humanity
Routt County Habitat for Humanity is reminding residents that motor vehicle donations help fund new Habitat homes through the Cars for Homes program. Motor vehicles — including cars, trucks, boats, RVs, etc. — can be donated by calling 1-877-277-4344 or by going to www.carsforhomes.org. The cars then are sold at auction or to recyclers or salvage yards, and the funds are used to build Habitat homes in partnership with low-income families.
Health Care Heritage Award nominations being accepted
Nominations are being accepted for fourth annual Doc Willett Health Care Heritage Awards, which will be held Aug. 24 at Strings Music Pavilion. The awards highlight the current quality and scope of health care while paying tribute to the roots of hospital care in Routt County, according to a news release.
Nominations for the Health Care Community Advocate and Health Care Professional awards are due by 5 p.m. May 4. The criteria for the Health Care Community Advocate award are a resident of the Yampa Valley whose efforts have resulted in improving the health, available services or health care environment to benefit the community. The criteria for the Health Care Professional award are a health care professional who has spent a significant portion of his or her career in delivering direct patient care or services to individuals.
Teen Council seeks new members for 2012-13
The Steamboat Springs Teen Council is looking for new members for the 2012-13 school year. The all-teen organization works to “give teens a voice in our community.” Learn leadership and team-building skills while helping to guide community decisions that affect teens. The Old Town Hot Springs lap pool will be closed through Monday for spring cleaning.
$14 adult immunizations offered for a limited time
The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is offering $14 adult immunizations for a limited time for MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), HPV, varicella (chicken pox), pneumococcal (pneumonia), meningococcal (meningitis), Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) and hepatitis A and B (hepatitis vaccines are for people with risk factors).
