Steamboat girls lacrosse struggles against Durango

Luke Graham

— The spring break bug bit the Steamboat Springs High School girls lacrosse team Friday.

Playing with the minimum of 12 players, Steamboat struggled in Durango, losing, 15-1.

“We did the best with what we had,” Steamboat coach Betsy Frick said. “We got tired, and it was hot. That’s what happened.”

Steamboat got a first-half goal from junior captain Nikki Fry.

The team plays at 11 a.m. Saturday against Durango again.

Frick said she thinks the team can play better Saturday.

“Hopefully, we can work together a little better,” she said. “Now, they know what to expect.”
