Tread of Pioneers Museum to be closed starting Monday

The Tread of Pioneers Museum will be closed this week and the week of April 23. The museum will reopen May 1 and resume normal operating hours of 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday. If you need assistance from staff, call 970-879-2214.

First aid, CPR class to be held at Yampa Town Hall

A first aid and CPR certification class is from 6 to 10 p.m. May 1 and 3 at Yampa Town Hall. Students must attend both classes to earn the full certification. A First Steps Seminar for those looking to start a business is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Colorado Mountain College’s Bogue Hall Room 300. Topics covered during the free seminar include:

Steamboat BookTrails is seeking transportation help

Steamboat BookTrails, a new local organization promoting reading and writing through outdoor exploration, is seeking transportation for summer programming. BookTrails’ summer program, Reading on Ranches, is in need of a 15-passenger van or bus to transport students from downtown Steamboat to the Fetcher and Carpenter ranches. Anyone with a van or bus that sits idle during the summer or is not used during the day is encouraged to contact BookTrails at emily@steamboatbooktrails.org, or call Off the Beaten Path Bookstore at 970-879-6830. BookTrails can provide compensation for gas, maintenance and insurance costs. 

Habitat for Humanity’s store needs volunteers

Girls to Women in need of donations and volunteers

Girls to Women, an annual one-day conference for eighth-grade girls in Northwest Colorado, is seeking donations and volunteers for the 2012 conference May 8 at The Steamboat Grand. Visiting Nurse Association offering shingles vaccine

The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is offering the Zostavax vaccine for shingles. Adults ages 60 and older who are low income and uninsured may qualify to receive the vaccine for a $14 fee through the Merck Patient Vaccine Assistance Program.
