8:51 a.m. -- I'm calling to report a suspicious person right here. I smell a rat, and I don't like none of it.

News flash: If you're driving around at 1:20 a.m., you are taking your chances. By then the alcohol has had plenty of time to take effect, and they are still selling it, at dispensaries all over town. Officer Friendly can't catch 'em all. By now I'm either sawing logs, or waiting for a cab, having long missed last bus, or in line for last call. Most likely the first.

yeah - even if we forget about the booz and pot (and theft of course, but something tells me that he took a friend / parent's car without permission...), this guy is totally crazy...."no proof of insurance, expired plates, defective headlights, failure to obey a traffic signal, weaving, theft, no front plates". ** if its dark in steamboat, you should know that ANY reason to get you pulled over WILL get you pulled over. this is the police state that we live in. just accept it and act accordingly! 2mph over the speed limit -- ANYTHING!! (hey, if the cops aren't making arrests, how can you justify $3,500+ / mo. in tax money that they cost?!?)

...maybe we have too many officers on the payroll for our small town...just a thought. when i drive home at 10pm and roll by 2 steamboat police cars/suv's, 2 sherrif police cars, and a state patrol car - just while going through downtown - it occurs to me that something is out of whack. i wonder if all this extra enforcement has actually increased public saftey, or just kept the system in "growth" mode....

blue -- dunno 'bout the police state, but police city for sure. That's why I ride the bus and my bike -- just got tired of supporting the local legal community. If I didn't know better, I might suspect our culprit this time WANTS three hots and a cot, and some quality conversation; he's probably lonely too. Maybe he'll strike up a friendship with Mr. Dloser there, them having so much in common.

All those cops must be self-supporting, to justify their presence. As many can be observed in daytime hours; DUI knows no clock, and IS big business in this town. A cop's nose is our best friend, as it sniffs out the perps. Oh the things they can smell so well... Of course they will stop you with the least provocation; even if they have to let three go before they hit the jackpot, now they have netted several thousand dollars for the system, of which the government will get their cut, justifying this guy's existence, while also providing for some shyster, if the perp is smart. Cha-ching, ring up the register.
