Steamboat volleyball gets past slow start vs. Delta

— A slow start couldn’t doom the Steamboat Springs High School volleyball team in its opening game of the Western Slope League season.

Despite falling in the first two games Friday in Delta, Steamboat responded with three straight to eek out a 3-2 win.

Steamboat won, 18-25, 22-25, 28-26, 25-14 and 16-14.

The Sailors, after winning two non-league contests and finishing second in the Bishop Machebeuf tournament last weekend, have lost one match all year.

Steamboat (3-0 overall, 1-0 in league play) plays at 1 p.m. today at Palisade.
