The Steamboat Sailors rallied to a 7-2 win at Salida on Saturday for their third victory in five days.
“It was a beautiful day,” coach Rob Bohlmann said. “The field we played on was an immaculate natural grass pitch. It was a good day for soccer.”
The Sailors fell behind, 1-0, early before turning it around. Mac Noel tied it up at 1, and Enrique Lopez gave the Sailors the lead at 2-1. Hanson Buchner, Noel Lopez, Peter White and Vincent Kretzschmar also added goals.
“There were some challenges that the group dealt with very well,” Bohlmann said. “To have three games in five days, especially early in the season, is tough. You can do all the work you want in training, but what builds mass fitness is playing the game.”
Steamboat (3-0 overall, 1-0 in league play) next plays at 6 p.m. Thursday in Moffat County.
