Steamboat briefs: City of Steamboat to host transit agencies conference

The city of Steamboat Springs is hosting the Colorado Association of Transit Agencies conference. The conference, sponsored by the trade group for transit providers, vendors and government agencies, and the Colorado Department of Transportation, will take place Tuesday through Friday at The Steamboat Grand.

It will include a vendor expo from noon to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, which will feature two compressed natural gas buses. The city has requested grant funding from CDOT to fund a feasibility study of transit vehicles that use alternative clean fuel systems.

Symphony Orchestra seeks volunteers for program

The nonprofit Steamboat Symphony Orchestra is looking for a volunteer to help with its education program this fall. The volunteer position includes enrolling students, coordinating marketing activities, participating in rehearsals, organizing two annual concerts and overseeing other volunteers. Registration is open for city fall youth programs

Registration is open for the city of Steamboat Springs’ fall youth programs, including Afterschool Action, ASSET Clubs, School Days Off, Kids Night Out and Pee-wee Adventures. Session 1 ASSET Clubs include gymnastics, learn to skate and initiation to hockey, swim lessons, archery, geocaching, cooking and “Secret Formula” science club.
