Rain to arrive first, then snow later tonight

— The first day of November will bring rain and then snow for much of Routt County, including Steamboat Springs. The precipitation is expected to move into the area sometime after noon.

Overcast skies and rain showers today are expected to give way to snow tonight, with between 2 and 4 inches accumulating on city streets and sidewalks, according to the National Weather Service. Today’s high of 49 degrees will drop to an overnight low of 19 degrees.

The snow could linger into Wednesday, when there’s a 40 percent chance of snow showers early in the day. The skies are expected to clear later Wednesday. The daytime high will reach only the mid-30s. Thursday should be sunny with a high in the mid-40s, and a chance of snow is in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday.

A winter storm advisory already is in effect for areas of higher elevation in Routt County. The advisory predicts 6 to 8 inches of snow for those areas, including the Elkhead, Park, Gore and Flat Tops mountain ranges. The advisory could be upgraded and expanded to lower-elevation areas as the storm takes shape over the northern and central mountains early Tuesday.

October saw 3 inches of total snowfall accumulation in Steamboat Springs, and 2.23 inches of total precipitation. Historically, Steamboat averages 6.8 inches of snow in October, and 1.86 inches of total precipitation.

No, its called a signature. Like emails, blogs, forums...etc. have. I don't need to self promote! My PAID ad in the Pilot gets plenty of promotion. Plus, when we are on Channel 18, that will be all the self promotion I need. So, no it's not blatant self promotion. Just for you, anonymous who won't even leave a name, I will leave out the signature.
