Steamboat Springs The man found dead Friday night on a stairway at a Steamboat Springs condo complex has been identified as 50-year-old Dean Tresner, of Steamboat Springs.
Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg said it still was unclear how Tresner died, but an autopsy was scheduled for Saturday evening.
It also should determine how long Tresner was dead before his body was discovered Friday night in a stairway at a condo complex off Pine Grove Road behind City Market.
Steamboat Springs Police Department Detective Dave Kleiber said Friday that no foul play was suspected, and that it appeared the body had been there for “a while.” He was found on the top flight of stairs next to the only condo on that level.
Tresner lived in another building in the complex. A woman discovered the body while going to clean a condo for her parents to use during the weekend, officer Kristin Bantle said.
Bantle was returning from investigating a missing persons report regarding Tresner when she was flagged down by the woman who found him.
Tresner’s wallet was turned in to police Oct. 10, and his girlfriend last spoke with him Oct. 5, Bantle said.
