— The body of a 50-year-old Steamboat Springs man was discovered Friday night in a stairway at a condo complex off Pine Grove Road behind City Market.

Steamboat Springs Police Department Detective Dave Kleiber said that no foul play was suspected and that it appeared the body had been there for “a while.”

The body was found on the top flight of stairs next to the only condo on that level. A woman discovered the body while going to clean a condo for her parents to use during the weekend, officer Kristin Bantle said.

The name of the man was not released pending notification of his family.

The man was reported missing earlier Saturday night by friends who live in Boulder who had come to Steamboat to look for him, Bantle said.

She was called to investigate the missing persons report at a nearby condo. While Bantle was leaving the condo, she was flagged down at about 11 p.m. by the woman who discovered the body. Bantle said the woman thought the man had passed out, but Bantle discovered he did not have a pulse.

Bantle said she identified the man using pictures found on his camera at his condo in the same complex. She said his wallet was reported found Oct. 10 and the man’s girlfriend last reported talking to him Oct. 5.
