Steamboat Springs The Hayden volleyball team started slow Saturday in Plateau Valley, dropping the first game before responding with three straight wins to pull away with a 3-1 victory.
The Tigers won, 20-25, 25-20, 25-18 and 25-15.
“We didn’t play with a lot of emotion in that first game,” Hayden coach Holli Palmer said.
“They turned it around. I’m not taking anything away from Plateau Valley, but we turned it around and played our game.”
Palmer said that despite several injuries, the Tigers (9-6) had multiple reserve players who stepped in and played a key role Saturday.
She said the team isn’t at “peak performance” yet, but with two regular-season games remaining before the district tournament, Palmer thinks the Tigers can get there.
“It’s just a matter of everyone getting used to playing together again,” she said.
Hayden next plays at 6 p.m. Friday at Vail Mountain before a 3 p.m. Saturday contest against Vail Christian at home.
