Steamboat Springs A 54-year-old Grand Junction man was killed Saturday afternoon after rolling his car on a remote county road in far southwest Routt County.
Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg said John R. Carroll was alone when it appeared he lost control of his 2000 Ford Explorer while going around a corner on Routt County Road 67.
Ryg said Carroll lived in Hayden a couple years ago and was in the area fishing.
Ryg said a passing motorist reported the accident, which is thought to have occurred at about 3 p.m.
The Explorer went down an embankment, and Carroll was thrown from the car, Ryg said.
West Routt Fire Protection District firefighters responded to the accident, and Carroll was not taken to a hospital. Colorado State Patrol troopers were investigating the accident and had not released information about the accident as of press time.
