Wednesday, October 5, 2011
Steamboat Springs Steamboat Springs retailers pointed to state-spanning rides that swept into town early in the summer as the most direct boost they got this year from cycling.
They got good news Wednesday, when it was announced the Bicycle Tour of Colorado would be back in Steamboat Springs next year.
The ride, with as many as 1,500 cyclists, will be in Steamboat for three starts, beginning June 20 and leaving June 22.
In 2011, the ride spent only one day in Steamboat. Ride the Rockies, meanwhile, spent parts of three days in Steamboat. Other 2012 stops for the Bicycle Tour of Colorado include Fort Collins; Laramie, Wyo.; Saratoga, Wyo.; Craig and Walden.
The USA Pro Cycling Challenge will announce host cities for the 2012 race in November, and the Ride the Rockies 2012 route will be announced in February.

Excellent News! Steamboat is a great place for these tours and the hospitality the town showed them will get us more visits for the tours and the people in them over time.
