Steamboat Springs The Steamboat Springs cross-country boys and girls teams each finished 14th on Saturday at a meet in Boulder.
Racing at Fairview High School in thick grass, times generally were slower on the course.
On the girls side, Meg O’Connell led the way, finishing 71st in 23 minutes, 25 seconds. Bailey Pugh finished in 23:52, Emma Wilson finished in 23:58, Lena Barker finished in 24:02 and Kelly Borgerding finished in 24:04.
On the boys side, Asher Rohde again led the way, finishing 24th in 17:37. Scott Powers finished in 18:43, Colton Lewer finished in 19:24, Zach Sperry finished in 20:50 and David Kidd finished in 22:01.
“It was hard to get good footing and run in that grass,” Steamboat coach Andy Reust said. “It was another glorified workout, getting ready for the regional meet. That’s the only one that counts.”
Steamboat competes one more time, Oct. 13 at Rifle, before the regional meet Oct. 19 in Delta.
