Steamboat Springs The local nonprofit Northwest Colorado Products, has recognized Sandy Morris, of Rising Sun Ranch creations, with its Ann Copeland Emerging Producer Award.
Rising Sun Ranch creates natural body-soothing products and painkillers as well as decorative lasso bowls with a Western flair. Morris’ products are made in small batches with essential oils, local beeswax, healing herbs and butters. Her husband, Bill, makes products out of antlers, horseshoes and spurs.
The Copeland Award recognizes a businessperson who shows innovation, good business practices and an entrepreneurial spirit in their approach to designing, marketing and distributing products that originate in Northwest Colorado.
More than 100 pairs of wool socks sent to troops
The organizers of Steamboat’s Support the Troops campaign, which sends much needed comforts to American soldiers in Afghanistan, report that Peter Duke, of Point6 socks in Steamboat Springs, has donated more than 100 pairs of warm wool socks to the cause.
Steamboat Springs, Vail brokerages join forces
A recent story by Scott N. Miller, of the Vail Daily, provides more insight into the recent mergers among Steamboat real estate agencies and their cousins in the Vail Valley.
More marketing muscle was one of the reasons Kathy Cole recently merged her company, Coldwell Banker Timberline Real Estate, with Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties, which has offices in Steamboat Springs and Sun Valley, Idaho, Miller wrote.
“We saw what happened in Steamboat” when it merged with Distinctive, Cole said. Distinctive owner Todd Conklin is trying to grow the company, Cole said, and may add additional resort-area offices.
“It made a lot of sense — we can share some expenses,” Cole said. “It really strengthens our resources.”
Brooke Gagnon for the past few years has been a “team leader” for Keller Williams Realty in the Vail area, which means she’s been focusing on marketing and adding more brokers to the national company’s team. Old Town Realty, of Steamboat, recently joined that network of local offices, Miller reported.
Gagnon said clients may come to local offices through the national brand but still want to work with veterans of the local scene.
