Paul Potyen: Proud of community

I attended Thursday’s meeting with the Routt County Planning Commission about oil and gas drilling. The room was packed with concerned citizens, many of whom took their turn at the podium to state their concerns about this issue. Given our current divisive national political climate, I found it remarkable and encouraging that all of the speakers were committed to the common purpose of preserving the things we love about our community in the face of a very real threat. I didn’t speak because as I listened, it became clear to me that everything that was said was done so by the speakers with an eloquence, intelligence and passion and that I could never match. I feel very fortunate to be part of this amazing community.

No one ever accused See of looking at both sides of an issue. If Glen Beck and Faux News don't make a talking point of it, you will never See repeat that thought. Evidently, independent thinking is not required to See-u-ski.

Is that the same bunch of "independent thinkers who "independently think" we don't need to produce energy in order to use energy?

Or is it the same "independent thinkers" who think insulting the questioner counts for intelligent rebuttal?

Or are these the "independent thinkers" who enjoy the cars, homes, food and lifestyles of wealthy nations while prohibiting the production and use of oil, gas, coal, power lines, etc that make that lifestyle possible?
