Vail Two people have died while snowriding at Colorado resorts.
Eagle County Sheriff’s Office officials said a 62-year-old man died after losing control at Vail Ski Resort on a beginner’s trail Friday, which was the resort’s opening day for ski season. Sheriff’s officials said that the man suffered injuries but that it’s unknown how he died. An autopsy is scheduled Saturday.
The man’s name is not being released.
Meanwhile, a 20-year-old University of Colorado Boulder student died after hitting a tree while snowboarding on an intermediate trail at Breckenridge Ski Resort.
The Summit County coroner’s office identified the man as Evan Massini, of Westbrook, Conn.
Both men were wearing helmets. The coroner says Massini suffered massive internal injuries when the main part of his body hit the tree.
Vail Resorts owns both ski areas.
