Winter storm warning canceled; advisory remains in effect

— The National Weather Service had backed off a winter storm warning for Steamboat Springs this weekend, replacing it with a winter weather advisory that calls for less snow and milder winds.

The new advisory is in effect from 3 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday and includes Steamboat, Hayden and Craig. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 7 inches are possible in Steamboat and Clark, with lesser amounts in Hayden and Craig.

Winds of 15 to 25 mph are expected to accompany the storm, but they’re not expected to be as severe as the 50 mph gusts and blizzard conditions initially predicted for the area. However, the National Weather Service continues to warn motorists of the possibility for treacherous travel conditions on highways throughout the region.

Saturday’s forecast high is 43 degrees, with an 80 percent chance of rain and snow. Precipitation will become all snow Saturday afternoon and evening, with an overnight low of 22 degrees. There is an 80 percent chance of snow Sunday, with a daytime high of 40 degrees. The snow will leave the region Sunday afternoon and evening and give way to partly sunny skies Monday with a high of 41 degrees.

The winter storm warning had called for 8 to 16 inches of snow in Steamboat, but meteorologists said their weather forecast models revealed changes to the storm’s dynamics that would result in less severe weather than was initially anticipated.

Oh wait, we were were told by clearsky 2 years ago that there would be no more snow below the Thunderhead building by now. Oh well, Al Gore must have fleeced him and he has gone away.

Seeuski, climate and weather are two different things. Why can't you understand that?

"Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son."

classsic! even the blizzard is turned into an anti socialist agenda. I can't weight to see what's next by the seeuski axe grinding campaign.

Let's just hope we're not jinxed by "supposed to get" as is usually the case. This town thrives on what we're NOT supposed to get, flakes of all types.

Forget Global Warming, consider this: Snowflakes require impurities in the atmosphere to crystallize around. The Chinese power plants spew unfiltered hydrocarbons into the atmosphere. The preponderance of our winter storms are Asian storms, rolled east.

So we are skiing on Chinese industrial waste!! And no wonder all these record snow years.

this anti socialist propaganda would make Goebbels proud.

Rick Akin 3 years, 1 month ago

Except, of course, that Goebbels was a socialist.

Ahhh, so you have heard of him? Did you come across his name during your reasearch on the "American atrocities" of WWII ???

BREAKING NEWS: Obama has stopped the Canada Keystone XL pipeline which would have created thousands of jobs here and would have lessened our dependency on foreign oil. But not to worry folks, as always there is a silver lining here, the Chinese are going to take that oil and because of Obama we will have more toxic air particles to create the snow for the fluffy white Steamboat pow. So you see, Obama has a magic touch after all.
And this to the tin foilers, THE CLIMATE HAS ALWAYS CHANGED.

Now as I said earlier, it was clearsky who said we would be riding the gondi down as there would be no snow below the Thunderhead and he said it would be this year as Al Gore claimed in his fiction drama, "An Inconvenient Lie".

What a bunch of suckers!

Careful, See. I think "suckers" might be on the list. I know "lunatic" is.

Where do we find said list sled? Or is it the only applies to one side list and is top secret?

I'm not sure. I seem to remember seeing it when I first signed on but I can't find it now.

ski-I'm going to include your 4 comments on this page (so far) onto your total for the Gary Burman blog. Magic, you hit the magic ten in way under a week. Pavlov would have been so impressed.

perhaps, between full time pilot blogging, you may peruse the last week's published results of the Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature Study. seems these results (funded by the Koch boys) are wholely coincident with the previous two independently derived surface temperature curves.

Goebbels was indeed a socialist. He was a member of the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, which translates to National Socialist German Workers' Party. We commonly refer to it as the Nazi Party. Fascist is a word indicating communists outside of Russia. It is generally associated with Italy. The point here is a common misunderstanding. The Nazis and Fascists were parties of the left, not the right.

rakin-

From Wikipedia:

"Nazism refers primarily to the ideology and practices of the Nazi Party under Adolf Hitler; and the policies adopted by the government of Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1945, a period also known as the Third Reich.[1][2][3][4] The official name of the Nazi party was the National Socialist German Workers' Party, (German: Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei or NSDAP); and the term Nazism is a contraction from the German: Nationalsozialismus, (National Socialism). Nazism was the main form of National Socialism that emerged after World War I, and is generally considered a form of fascism."

Hill, that is generally correct although there is some quibble about the fascist part since the Nazi's were socialists and the fascists were communists. The point, though is that both were parties of the left, not the right.
Here are a few Goebbels quotes that will clarify his view of capitalism for you: “the money pigs of capitalist democracy”: “Money has made slaves of us.” “Money is the curse of mankind. It smothers the seed of everything great and good. Every penny is sticky with sweat and blood.” “The worker in a capitalist state—and that is his deepest misfortune—is no longer a living human being, a creator, a maker. He has become a machine. A number, a cog in the machine without sense or understanding. He is alienated from what he produces.” Obviously, the Nazi's, being socialists, were no fans of capitalism.

Thanks Rick, very interesting how history is repeating itself. The fascism, the antisemitism, the Socialism, all can be found with the OWS moronic movement.

That's what I was trying to get through to Hill the other day when I mentioned the Weimar Republic. He said I was "living in the past"... but then he brought up Goebbles the next day. Go figure...

It was the disasterous inflation in Germany and Austria after WWI that led to the rise of the Third Reich. I just finished a great book about it called "When Money Dies" by Adam Fergusson

The quotes of Goebbels reflects what he and other Germans and Austrians had lived through from the 1920's through to the rise of Adolph Hitler. If one studies that period it is not surprising that people felt that way.

Something similar is going to happen here too.

sledneck, I don't have a list of words you're not allowed to say. I do have a terms of use agreement, which can be found here: http://www.steamboattoday.com/terms_of_use/

Ha, see my comments of 11:52 AM -- looks like this storm petered out already. Probably the result of all the hot air generated here.

I'm hoping this will UN-jinx it, and I end up eating these words.

Oops -- this return to the subject is officially over!!

Al must of flew his personal jet around the country a few times to warm things back up.

trump_suit 3 years, 1 month ago

But Nicole, that take out over 1/2 of the links that you allow Seeuski to post.

0

seeuski 3 years, 1 month ago

Don't worry trump, you are getting your wish of censorship. Net neutrality has passed the Senate and the UN will eventually decide what all of us can say online.

And the links I post are news stories, the venom and vileness they portray are always coming from your friends on the left. Sorry, but I can't change the facts to suit the fantasy or fairytale planet your mind inhabits. One last thing, it seems my rights have been violated by you and others here on many occasions by reading the rule sheet above, I am going to call Gloria Allred as I know she loves bogus claims. I am truly sure you lefties would love a one armed circle....where everyone thinks the same, you may get it soon.

I almost forgot, your little community in Steamboat is already affected by what is known as the "creeping Sharia", I had a post deleted by the Pilot for no other reason then I referenced Islam, someone in your little burg made a stink and claimed an ulterior motive which was not there and voila, gone. This is happening all across America as we are under fire. Wake up, don't silence free speech, it will be your speech that is gone next and you won't like what replaces it.
