Steamboat to start stabilization process on banks of Yampa River

— The city of Steamboat Springs will start a bank stabilization process on the Yampa River at Dr. Rich Weiss Park in mid-November, according to a news release.

The city’s Parks, Open Space and Recreational Services Department has contracted Nordic Excavating and IME Consulting to stabilize the river banks at the park near the east side of downtown. They will use stacked and terraced boulders with vegetation to protect the park’s river bank.

The improvements were identified as a priority of the adopted Yampa River Structural Master Plan, according to the release.
