Steamboat Springs The second annual Cheer Showcase is more than just a fundraiser for Steamboat Rocky Mountain Cheer. It’s a chance for the young members of the Steamboat Springs-based cheerleading program to show the community what they can do.
“This year we are planning a bigger and better event with cheering, stunting, dancing,” program director Summer McParland said. “I’m especially proud to offer our first- and second-place-winning routines from this season.”
The Cheer Showcase is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kelly Meek Gymnasium at Steamboat Springs High School. The showcase will be a fundraising event for the team. Admission is $5 at the door. Concessions also will be available. The program will feature members of the program performing routines.
“We really enjoy offering the community an opportunity to see what SRMC and competitive cheerleading is all about,” McParland said.
The program also will be reopening the all-star team tryouts. This is the last and final opportunity for cheerleaders to join the 2011-12 All-Star Team. Tryouts will be at the Steamboat Rocky Mountain Cheer gym Monday and Tuesday in Riverside Plaza, Suite 140.
The first day of the clinic will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday, the second day will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, and final tryouts will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. All three days are mandatory, and cheerleaders must pre-register and have a waiver and release form filled out. Tryouts cost $25. For more information, call 727-424-1373.
