— The cost for a season pass to Steamboat Ski Area next winter is increasing by $30 for adults. The increases are less — from $10 to $20 — for teens and children.

Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. released the 2011-12 season pass prices Wednesday afternoon. As is typical, the best prices are reserved for those who buy their passes — or provide a $99 down payment — by June 1.

Season passes reserved by June 1 will cost $929 for adults ages 18 to 69; $509 for teens; $289 for children ages 6 to 12; $389 for seniors ages 70 and older; $689 for full-time college students; and $30 for children ages 5 and younger. A $75 option to add unlimited days at Winter Park Resort is available for all pass buyers.

Parents who buy a full season pass for themselves will get one free season pass for a child 12 years old and younger. The Kids Ski Free deal is available regardless of when the season pass is purchased.

The ski area again is offering a Friends & Family ticket deal through which adult season pass holders can buy four lift tickets any time during the season for $59 each. The individual lift tickets are $79 each if bought Dec. 26 to Jan. 2 or March 10 to 17.

The PURE Pass, which made its debut this season, returns for the 2011-12 season. A six-day PURE Pass is $429 if bought by June 1, and a 15-day PURE Pass is $719. Add-on days can be purchased for $39 a day. There are no restrictions on when PURE Pass holders can buy those add-on days, according to a Ski Corp. release.

Season pass prices jump up considerably after June 1. The early season rates, which are for passes bought between June 2 and Aug. 15, are $1,029 for adults; $619 for teens; $339 for children ages 6 to 12; $469 for seniors; and $719 for college students.

The six-day PURE Pass increases to $519, and the 15-day PURE Pass jumps to $819.

The most expensive passes are those bought after Aug. 16. At that time, adult season passes jump to $1,239.

The six-day PURE Pass is not available for purchase after Aug. 16. The 15-day PURE Pass will cost $919 after that date.

The $75 Winter Park upgrade is available regardless of when a pass is purchased.

Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association member businesses can continue to participate in the merchant pass program for adult season passes and the 15-day PURE Pass.

A $99 down payment on merchant passes is due by Aug. 15, with the balance due in mid-January. Merchant pass holders will get four Friends & Family tickets, instead of the two allotted this season.

Passes are on sale at www.steamboat.com or by calling Steamboat Central Reservations at 970-879-0740.
