Pilot & Today Staff

— The Steamboat Springs Community Youth Corps has received $21,840 in Great Outdoors Colorado funding to maintain trails on the Yampa River Core Trail and other Steamboat trails, according to a news release.

The funding is part of $500,000 in lottery funds GOCo approved last week.

Steamboat’s Community Youth Corps program provides work for teens ages 14 to 16. Teens in the corps learn job skills, participate in life skills workshops, experience educational programs and participate in career discussions during four weeks of work, according to the release.

“Statewide, local governments will receive a total of $250,000 and open space organizations will receive $250,000 to hire youth corps to implement land stewardship projects,” the release states.
