Elena Cash is the second Reader of the Week for the annual Summer Reading Program.

— The Hayden Public Library is pleased to announce 11-year-old Elena Cash as the second Reader of the Week for the annual Summer Reading Program. Elena’s parents are Jessica and Mike Bertram. Elena has one brother, Koa, 14. She was born in Hawaii and has lived in the Hayden area for one year. She has two cats, Chewy and George.

When asked what she wants to be when she grows up, she thought about it for a second and said a police officer. Her favorite colors are blue and black, and her favorite food is pizza. She likes to watch the television show “SpongeBob SquarePants.” She enjoys basketball and wrestling. When Elena has free time, she likes to hang out with her friends, Alannah and Kaitlynn. This summer Elena is working at the Hayden library as a “Bradley’s Book Buddy,” mentoring younger children by reading to them and playing educational games. Her favorite book is “School of Fear” by Gitty Daneshvari.

Elena loves to read, and, in fact, reading is her favorite subject in school. She will be in sixth grade this fall. This summer she and her family plan to go to Estes Park.

When asked if she had any advice for other kids about reading, she said, “Take your time.” Elena also said that when she learned she was the Reader of the Week, she was really excited. Congratulations, Elena!
