— What are you doing Saturday night? The Yampa Valley is a fantastic community, and there are many options to keep busy. On top of our great local restaurants and entertainment, there are countless fundraising events for lots of worthy causes.

The Community Agriculture Alliance is hosting the sixth annual Cayuse Classic on Saturday. This unique event is the organization’s signature fundraising event and is a true community and family event. So with all the other choices of ways to spend your Saturday, why come to the Cayuse Classic? Here are the top 10 reasons to join the fun:

■ Help support Community Agriculture Alliance programs that promote local food initiatives, agricultural economic opportunities, stewardship of land and water resources and agriculture education.

■ Dust off those cowboy boots, pull out that belt buckle from the back of your closet, and get dressed to dance the night away to 3Wire.

■ Ride and compete in hunter jumper competitions, the Poker Run Trail Ride and Outfitters Race and even try Jackpot Roping. Or just watch … spectators are free.

■ Learn what “Cayuse” means and then you can impress friends and visitors.

■ Help preserve the Yampa Valley’s agricultural heritage and build for the future.

■ Eat a delicious barbecue dinner from Steamboat Smokehouse in a horse arena (with linens, dishes and silverware).

■ Have a great time playing games … roll the dice, spin the wheel, play a hand of poker, throw horseshoes or darts, pitch quarters and try our version of bingo, brando, to learn more about local brands. We promise you’ll have a great time playing, visiting, laughing and winning.

■ Connect with friends and family (bring the kids) and meet some new people … all in support of agriculture.

■ Win fabulous prizes, such as a trip to the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas or tickets for a private box at a Colorado Rockies game. Bid on one-of-a-kind auction items including a handmade Grimaldi quilt, a tack package and a Rod Hanna photograph print.

■ Because agriculture matters.
