Construction on U.S. Highway 40 had traffic backed up to the Mount Werner exit late Wednesday morning.
Steamboat Springs Colorado Department of Transportation crews are continuing to repair ruts and potholes in the eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. 40 from Pine Grove Road to Trafalgar Drive.
The work was expected to wrap up Tuesday, but a CDOT employee said it was not completed because of delays caused by the rain.
Eastbound traffic on U.S. 40 near Pine Grove Road has been reduced to one lane in the work zone Wednesday morning. Crews will then reduce traffic to one lane on westbound lanes from Pine Grove Road to Trafalgar Drive this afternoon.
A CDOT employee said that crews hope to have work completed by 5 p.m. Wednesday and that traffic was running smoothly around the construction area at 10 a.m.
