Steamboat Springs Spots for the seventh annual Tour de Steamboat rapidly are filling up.
“It’s on target to be growing like that,” ride director Katie Lindquist said. “It’s a popular event with lots of people doing it. It’s local, and we’ve got a reputation that it’s affordable and fun.”
The noncompetitive road bicycle ride features three rides. The 40-mile ride to Stagecoach is full. The 110-mile Gore Gruel ride as of midday Tuesday had 31 spots left, and the 26-mile Sidney Peak Ranch ride had 22 spots left. The 110-mile ride is $90, and the 26-mile ride is $50.
All rides begin at 7 a.m. Saturday at 12th and Yampa streets.
Register at www.tourdesteamboat.com. Registration closes at noon Thursday.
The event also includes a benefit dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort, hosted by Prudential Steamboat Realty. The cost for the benefit dinner is $25 per person, and children younger than 8 are free. Tickets are available at www.tourdesteamboat.com or at Prudential. In addition to the dinner, there will be silent auction items up for bid, including trips, tickets and apparel.
All proceeds will go to the Sunshine Kids. The foundation adds quality of life to children with cancer by providing them with exciting group activities.
After the ride Saturday, there will be a drawing for an Eriksen bicycle frame. Tickets for the drawing are $10, or buy 10 and get one free. Tickets are available at registration, the benefit and the post-race barbecue.
Registration for the ride is from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ski Haus.
