Friday, January 28, 2011
Steamboat Springs Snowboarder Matt Ladley saved his best for last.
The 19-year-old Steamboat Springs rider used his second of two runs Thursday at Winter X Games 15 in Aspen to qualify for the men’s Snowboard SuperPipe finals.
Those finals begin at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. They will be televised on ESPN.
Ladley struggled on his first go of the halfpipe, falling to 15th of 16 riders. But on his second run Ladley, who spent the previous two years as an alternate for the preeminent X Games event, put down a smooth run.
His second run score of 67 qualified him seventh. The top eight riders qualified for the finals.
