— The Hayden High School wrestling team went 1-4 at the duals tournament in Rifle, but coach Ty Camilletti said several Tigers stood out despite the rough day the team had.

Senior 215-pounder Treyben Letlow went undefeated again, winning all five of his matches to stay perfect on the season. Sophomore Ryan Domson, at 171 pounds, joined him in a perfect day.

“Ryan’s doing a pretty good job,” Camilletti said. “He’s getting better every week and starting to peak. He’s right on track.”

Hayden beat Montezuma-Cortez thanks to a tiebreaker that broke a 30-30 score. The Tigers lost to Hotchkiss, 54-13; Grand Valley, 42-18; Delta, 59-12; and Coal Ridge, 48-24.

The team wrestled without five of its usual varsity wrestlers as injuries and sickness ravaged the roster.

Camilletti said he was hoping those athletes would be ready to return this week for a pair of home performances.

The team takes on Moffat County for a dual at 6 p.m. Thursday in Hayden. Saturday, the squad welcomes Glenwood Springs and Meeker to Hayden for a triangular.

“Hopefully we can get some fans out here to watch us,” Camilletti said. “Hopefully we get healthy so we can show them a little more.”
