Omar M. Campbell: Dispensary request

Friday’s Steamboat Today included an article (“Marijuana center eyes growth”) about a Milner medical marijuana “caregiver” who wants to open a second shop, this one in Steamboat. Coincidentally, I received an article that appeared in the Longmont Times-Call on Jan. 8. It shows what can result from our ill-conceived pot law.

The Longmont article pictures six individuals who moved to Colorado from New Mexico, thinking that our liberal pot law would let them grow marijuana uninhibited for illegal sale under the umbrella of “caregivers.” Surprise, surprise! They were nabbed, along with some Longmont locals.

I hope the Steamboat Springs City Council will look at the request for another dispensary with a jaundiced eye.
