Steamboat Springs The Soroco girls basketball team heads on the road for a pair of key league games, the outcomes setting up a potentially huge contest next week.
Soroco (4-2, 1-1) plays at 5 p.m. today at Plateau Valley and 2:30 p.m. Saturday at West Grand.
Should Soroco get through these two, it sets up a huge game against cross-county rival Hayden at 6 p.m. Jan. 28 at Soroco.
“Two wins on the road this weekend would be big,” Soroco coach David Bruner said. “That sets us up with a big game against Hayden. Going into that game 6-2 is the plan. But (today) we have to take care of Plateau Valley.”
Bruner said he didn’t know much about Plateau Valley, but he said the key is what Soroco does.
He said the Rams have been working on their defense and turning turnovers into easy baskets.
“We played well last weekend,” he said. “The girls are ready to play.”
