Denver Hayden's Chad Terry and Treyben Letlow were the only high school wrestlers from Routt County to advance in the first round of the Class 2A state wrestling tournament in Denver today.
Letlow defeated Justin Lenox with a second-round pin to advance to Friday's quarterfinal round. Terry defeated Diego Pons of Center, 8-0, in the preliminary round to advance to Friday's quarterfinals.
After Terry and Letlow, Hayden sustained three pins and Soroco one, and other losses. No Rams will advance on the championship side of the bracket, though all three — Dillon Koler at 119 pounds, Josh Baker at 140 and Tristan Palyo at 145 — will wrestle again Friday morning in the consolation bracket. Ryan Domson, meanwhile, lost at 171 pounds, falling to Terrell Stafford of Baca County in overtime, 8-6.
