Steamboat Springs Steamboat Springs High School wrestling team fell short Saturday at the regional tournament in Grand Junction, failing to qualify to the state meet.
“It was tough wrestling,” coach Shane Yeager said.
The squad’s top wrestler for most of the season, 140-pound sophomore Casey Williams, found a stacked bracket and couldn’t crack through the way he did a year ago.
The story was the same for the whole team.
“It was still a successful season,” Yeager said. “They wrestled hard, but every bracket they were in was completely full. We just couldn’t make it through.”
