Steamboat Springs Soroco High School senior Ceanna Rossi scored 17 points Saturday, helping her Rams past Meeker, 61-45.
Rossi also grabbed 10 rebounds, rounding out one of the best games of her career as the team bounced back from a hard loss Friday night against Hayden.
“They’ve grown up a lot,” Soroco coach David Bruner said. “They keep fighting, that’s for sure. I was really proud of the girls. This was a good win for the program.”
Soroco trailed, 22-16, after the first quarter but rallied to take the lead in the second and was up 31-29 at half. The Rams managed to grow that lead through the final two quarters.
Brandi Roundtree scored 14 points, and Madison George had 14.
“The key for those two, they took care of the ball,” Bruner said. “All of our guards handled Meeker’s pressure pretty well and hit some key 3-pointers during the game.”
The win improves Soroco to 10-5 on the season. The team returns to action Saturday at Battle Mountain.
