— Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club moguls skier Brad Hoefer picked up a pair of podium finishes, the first of his career, at a Rocky Mountain Division event last weekend at frigid Arapahoe Basin.

Hoefer took third place Saturday in single moguls and was followed by teammate Skyler Kauf in fourth. On Sunday, in dual moguls, it was an all-Steamboat final with Hoefer and Kauf battling. Hoefer took the win with Kauf finishing a close second.

Hoefer is “at that point in his career where he’s getting a lot of confidence in his ability,” Winter Sports Club coach Nate Bird said. “He has been working hard to get where he is. I think he’s going to see more top results.”

Several members of the Steamboat team will head to Telluride this weekend in preparation for the regional event the first week of March. The team will then compete in Junior Nationals in Steamboat from March 7 to 13.
