Steamboat Springs A team of nine Routt County Search and Rescue volunteers helped three lost snowmobilers who were stuck in North Routt County on Monday night.
Jim Linville, Search and Rescue incident commander, said the snowmobilers were a local man experienced in the backcountry and two of his friends visiting from out of town.
Search and Rescue was notified at about 7:30 p.m. Monday that the men left a main road and had gotten stuck in the Big Red Park area. The men were well equipped and could have spent the night outdoors, Linville said, but Search and Rescue chose to go after them because of the winter storm. Linville said they men were found at about 10 p.m. and were fine.
