Steamboat Nordic girls win in Leadville race on Saturday

Steamboat Springs The Steamboat Springs High School girls Nordic ski team was able to just nip Middle Park on Saturday at a 5-kilometer classic race in Leadville, winning the girls portion of the race.
Steamboat scored 167 points to Middle Park’s 162. Nederland was third with 150 points.
Linnea Dixson led the way with a third-place finish. Dominique Powers was fourth, Martha Anderson was ninth, Sarah White was 10th, Eva Lambeck was 18th, Mallory Hoots was 20th, and Pichya Nimit was 23rd.
The boys team finished ninth, but was without the services of three of its top skiers. Dane Dixson, Wilber Ranieri and Peter White all missed the meet because of illness. Jack Burger led the way for Steamboat with a seventh-place finish.
