Police: Suspect in Hayden meth lab will be found

— Local law enforcement officials are still searching for the man who was renting a Hayden home that police say housed a methamphetamine lab.

Citing the ongoing investigation, All Crimes Enforcement Team Cmdr. Marvin Cameron refused again Thursday to release the name of the suspect. He said police agencies have been told to be on the lookout for the unidentified man.

Cameron said he is confident the suspect will be caught.

“It may be days, weeks or months,” Cameron said. “He will get caught. He’ll do something stupid.”

The suspect was not at home when ACET, aided by several other agencies, raided the home at 340 E. Jefferson Ave. on Saturday morning. Even though the suspect may now know he is being hunted by police, Cameron said they preferred him not being home when they entered the house.

“It was safer for everyone involved,” he said. “We don’t know for sure whether he’s armed or not armed.”

Extra caution needs to be taken when raiding and processing a suspected methamphetamine lab, he said.

“It’s probably one of the most dangerous things a police officer can do,” Cameron said.

Cameron has refused to detail what officers found in the house.

“We did find items in the residence that we think were used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine,” he said.

Routt County Sheriff Garrett Wiggins has said a “death bag” — a garbage bag used to trap toxic gases produced while making meth — was taken from the home along with chemicals and flammable materials.

Wiggins said the suspect is a previous offender who has been arrested before on suspicion of meth-related charges.

"Even though the suspect may now know he is being hunted by police"

A high profile bust that diverted traffic, a picture of the residence being in the paper and the address being in the paper, but there is a reason to not disclose his name because he might learn he is wanted?

Did someone's submission to The Onion accidentally get printed in the newspaper?

i am a big fan of busting meth operations and the operators. Have they gotten the suspects yet, its been at least 2 weeks?!!??

I as well am a big fan of busting meth operations abe maybe if the baffoons running this operations knew what they were doing we would not still be wondering about this!! After all how do you let a repeat offender suspected of running a meth production operation not be at the scene when you stage your raid. If this is the way ACET is going to run their operation they are no longer an asset to this community, and their funding should be taken away.

ACET is a joke-unfortuanately, the money they waste shutting down an entire neighborhood for a day to net a "deathbag," could easily have paid for some addict to go to rehab.Running around in haz-mat suits and issuing threats via the Pilot does not seem to me to be any way to diminish the awful drug traffic that is destroying so many people. How about doing something sensible?

No they haven't gotten him yet but their plan is working--they're waiting for him to do something stupid.

ACET funding should be taken away 100 % since they are uncapable of doing their jobs and the drug war is a freking joke

Since when is a being a cop a safe job ? The perp might have had a gun , duh , really ,run and hide girls maybe you should go work at City Market where it's safe or hire some real men or a couple of ex Marines if your going to bust somebody then do it right

So does this mean if a bank robber or rapist has a gun , or kidnapper your going to let him walk because it's not safe and he might have a gun ? Really I didn't realize that we hired Barney Fife to protect Mayberry

Meth is bad news for sure but I sure don't feel sorry for anybody that gets hooked on it or any other drug . Put it in the grocery store right next to the rat poison , we will have a few less rats running around and the Billions of dollars that go to drug cartels will stop and we won't have to finance the 70 year old drug war that will never end

The money spent on this farce would be better spent helping people get off it if they really want off it but nobody ever wants help drug addicts , So let's just keep paying for law enforcement that will never work and we just gotta keep making those scumbag drug cartels filthy rich so they can keep on buying more guns and WMD'S

And how many cops in Routt County have ever even been threatened, let alone shot at while executing a search warrant? None. This is just cop hype. Maybe the cops SHOULD release the name to the public..somebody probably knows him and knows where he is. A Wanted poster. A reward.

Freerider I totally agree with you. Drug addiction is a blight, but it is so prevalent, it's been around forever, and it will never end. Makes more sense to use ACET funds to help those get clean who want to, and let the ones who don't destroy themselves without endangering the rest of us.

i didnt see any arrest in the jail report this week. Did they get them yet? its been three weeks...

Well, I am sure they will get him in the end because no one lives forever.

It is bizarre to think that somehow the suspect might not know he is wanted and so preserving that forlorn fantasy of catching him unawares is better than releasing his name so the public could help locate the suspect.

did i miss the arrest in this weeks blotter? still nothing? Pilot, any news to back up the headline, "suspect will be caught?"

Why are we letting meth producers get away? Do the suspects have names?

Ssssh, he might not yet know he is wanted. So the Sheriff's dept is still keeping his name secret.
