Jim Linville: A heartfelt thanks

I am writing this to say thank you to the many friends who helped me following my recent fall and traumatic brain injury. After a very scary first three weeks and three other weeks of rehab, Joan and I finally returned to Steamboat. I am feeling much better and continuing with my therapies here at home.

So many friends sent cards and many more left messages on the CaringBridge website. I read all of your thoughts several times each. The positive energy and love I felt from everyone in this community gave me the focus and courage I needed to heal. It is because of you that I am home two weeks ahead of schedule. Thank you.

I also would like to thank Friends of the Routt Backcountry for the benefit at the Backcountry Ball, an event Joan and I helped start many years ago. For all of you who donated items, purchased items, had a beer or cut the rug that night, a big thank you. A special thanks goes to Kent and Katie at Kent Eriksen Cycles for donating the bicycle frame for which we will draw the winner on New Year’s Day, and to John Witte and Routt County Search and Rescue for the helicopter ride. It brings tears to my eyes to know so many friends have chipped in to help.

My doctors have told me that it would be a very good idea not to fall on my head again anytime soon, so it looks like snowshoeing for me this winter. If I could ask one more small favor — please make some turns for me when it finally does snow.
